Why do we exist?
We believe that it is our responsibility to help fulfill God's Mission for His Church.
We are striving to do that through establishing a growth plan focused by our Purpose as a local church community. We have been called out by God for this purpose, and He has given us guidance in setting goals and objectives in an effort to fulfill our purpose.
The purpose of The Salvation Army White Rock Community Church is to be a community that desires:
To know Christ
To live Christ
To share Christ
But what does that mean? What does that look like?
First of all, we get to know God in the same way we get to know one another... through spending time together in conversation. With God this happens through reading His Word the Bible, listening to teaching about His Word, worshiping God, and prayer, all within the context of our own worship language or style. Whether you prefer traditional hymns in a sacred setting or lively music in an informal atmosphere, we have a worship space just for you.
Once we know Christ, we begin to understand what it means to live Christ. Knowing God will have a transforming effect on our lives... He will change our behaviour. When we know God's voice, we can then discern who we are created to be and we have the tools we need to make good choices in life.
When we are living according to how God has created us and called us, then others will see God's love shining in us. That's what we mean by desiring to share Christ. We don't need to be preachy or pious, we simply need to build relationships with others and the effects of God's transformation in us will be evident through the way we live. |
